Preview:
Oklahoma State showed it can succeed without a strong performance from quarterback Brandon Weeden.

The sixth-ranked Cowboys, though, might need Weeden to revert to his spectacular form Saturday when they face Missouri, which has won 10 in a row at home and is coming off a confidence-boosting victory.

Weeden entered last week's visit to then-No. 22 Texas second in the nation with a 376.0-yard passing average, but he threw for a season-low 218 yards in Austin while posting his worst completion percentage (56.1) in 12 games.

Oklahoma State (6-0, 3-0 Big 12), though, stayed in a tie atop the conference with Oklahoma and Kansas State. Justin Gilbert had a school record-tying fourth career kickoff return for a touchdown and Jeremy Smith sprinted for a 74-yard score in the third quarter of a 38-26 victory.

Smith also had a 30-yard TD run just before halftime, giving him 10 straight games with at least one touchdown, and finished with 140 yards on just seven carries. His scoring streak is the longest for the Cowboys since Barry Sanders had a 15-game run during his 1988 Heisman Trophy-winning season.

Even with Weeden a little off, Oklahoma State remained second in the nation in total offense (551.2 yards per game), passing (395.7) and scoring (49.2 points a contest).

"We never know who's going to be the guy that makes big plays for our offense," coach Mike Gundy said. "We have so many weapons that they have to continue to play unselfish and Jeremy's just kind of been there the last few weeks."

The Cowboys checked in at No. 4 in the initial BCS standings, their highest position in those rankings.

They'll try to move up by extending an eight-game road win streak, the second longest in school history and tied for the second-longest active run in FBS. They're also on the verge of their third 7-0 start and second in the last four years.

Oklahoma State will be facing a Missouri team that's coming off a 52-17 rout of Iowa State. After being held to 326 yards in a 24-17 loss at Kansas State the previous week, the Tigers piled up 583 against the Cyclones -- 373 coming from quarterback James Franklin.

The sophomore had 289 yards through the air and 84 on the ground while having a hand in five touchdowns. Big 12 rushing leader and fellow sophomore Henry Josey ran for 129 yards and a TD.

Oklahoma State is allowing 426.7 yards per game but has forced 17 turnovers in its last four contests -- three against Texas.

"Missouri has been very athletic on offense for several years," Gundy said. "They make plays and are well-coached. We are looking forward to the challenge of going there and playing. ... We need to play well."

A victory Saturday would give the Tigers (3-3, 1-2) their second-longest run at Faurot Field, but they've dropped the past two matchups there with Oklahoma State and three of the last four meetings overall.

In the most recent game at Columbia, the Cowboys knocked off the then-No. 3 Tigers 28-23 on Oct. 11, 2008. The next season, they beat Missouri 33-17 at home.

Weeden will be playing his first game against Missouri, which won't have injured defensive linemen Terrell Resonno and Brayden Burnett. Linebacker Will Ebner remains out with a sprained ankle and coach Gary Pinkel is considering redshirting him.

"They really have a lot of good players. That's why they are undefeated and that's why they are nationally ranked," Pinkel said of the Cowboys. "Our place will be rocking on Saturday. Our players are excited about having a great team come in here and play."

Missouri leads the series 28-22, but Oklahoma State is 8-2 against the Tigers when ranked.
